The war that America waged against Iraq had effected women and challenged Saudi Arabian society which experienced changes toward women. American presence starts with the production of oil in 1997 in Saudi Arabia which effected on women rights in this country (Hamdan page.43). Similar, 1979 and constitution revolutions which happened against shah and establishment of parliament in 1905-1911 and 1979 in Iran, women played very important role in politics and social movements (Brooks). In this paper, I will compare social and political rights of women in Iran and Saudi Arabia. To start with, the 1979 and constitution revolutions that happened in 1905- 1911 and 1979 in Iran women played important role in social and politics movements. One of the most important movements by women in Iran was participation in 1979 revolution against Shah (Brooks). Muhammad Riza was a ruler who was interested on westernization and women rights (pg.4). But still women did not want him. Women in Iran were contact with western feminism and influenced by them. One of the impacts that western women had on Iranian women were about education rights, where women wanted their education rights as western women. Iranian women were trying to get the same rights as western women had, but they did not get. In nineteen and twenty century western women were struggling to gain their rights as men in their country, the same could be said for Iranian women (pg.6). Women in western and Iran were treated unequal to men in society. These evidences show that women in 20th century did not have any political and social rights and they were not treated equal as men. Women were struggling to gain their rights, but still they raise their voices and show that they also have the power and they are the citizens of the country. And they played an important role in history of Iran by joining in two revolutions which very important for Iran. In addition, still women in 21th century in Iran do not have any social rights. They are not treating as equal as men in society. Women are known as second citizens in Iranian society. Women in Iran still did not get their fundamental rights (Taheri). Women in Iran are facing different social problems. One of the big problems that Iranian women are facing in I ran is wearing Hijab, where they are not allowed to go out without Hijab. A according to article 63 of penal code that, Those women that appear in the streets and public places without the Islamic hijab shall be sentenced to prison or fined as a punishment to pay some money to superior authorities (Taheri par. 5). Women in Iran are getting harassment, abuses and discrimination by Iranian regime for not wearing proper Hijab or headscarf (par.6). Wearing Hijab is an Islamic traditional that every Muslim women should wear. That is why Iran government enacted law for women that they are not allowed to go out without Hijab, this is one of the reason women in Iran are struggling. Moreover, Women are ban to travel abroad and enter stadium (Taheri par. 2). Iranian women are not allowed to travel abroad without their parents and husbands permission. Husband can stop his wife from traveling to other country any time (Taheri par.2). And female athletes are facing many problems by going to stadium, because it is ban for them. Women in Iran are ban from watching mens football and other sports in stadium (Taheri). International Volleyball Federation, known as the FIVB, uphold its own rules and agree not to allow Iran to host future tournaments â€Å" unless it allows Iranian women to attend (Taheri par.2) One of other social rights that women are struggling to get is, work in society without any problems. Women are being discriminated by Iranian government. Because government pays less salary than men and women should must do two jobs (Davachi par.15). Which is unfair to women because they are doing many jobs, they work at home, take care of their children, husband and in laws family , despite all these women work to help her husband and family but government pays them less salary than men. How strict and unfair it is that Iranian government gives the right to husband to stop his wife from working because he thinks that it will damage his family dignity. Women are be ing property that men are using and controlling them. Iranian government does not give equal rights to women and treating them as property. According to the Universal Declaration of Human Rights Everyone have the rights of freedom without any kind of discrimination of race, sex, religion, color and etc But unfortunately, women under Law giving by Iran government are struggling to get equal rights in society. Women in Iran are not allowed to run for presidential election, but they can run election for parliament. They should receive equal rights as men in society. Same, they should have same political position as men in country, where Iran government take away political rights of women in Iran. King Abdullah for the first time gave 30 seats out of 150 for women in Shura Council which is 20% seats but women in Shura Council do not have legislative power (Alharabi pg.15). Recently women in Saudi Arabia getting their basic rights which is joining in sport and stadium and driving car but in Iran women are even not allowed enter sport stadium. Women in Iran have the right to vote but in Saudi Arabia women cannot vote because Saudi Arabia is absolute monarchy. Women in Iran history played very important role during two revolutions happened which was 1979 and constitution. In addition women in Iran have more political rights than women in Saudi Arabia, because Iran has women in their cabinet where Saudi Arabia does not give senior position to women in politics. In conclusion, in my perspective the culture of Iran and Saudi Arabia are Islamic and they treat human being according to gender. That is why rights of women are limited or taking away in these countries. Saudi Arabia and Iran are Islamic country they follow Islamic law that is why they treat women unequally and use them as slaves and property. Women are not able to get their social and political rights because of Islamic and traditional society. Though Islam give equal rights to women as men but people are having wrong concept of Islam that is why they use women as salve and property. Iran is a country where president made a strict law against women that they are forced to wear hijab in public places otherwise they will be harassed by police even though women do not want to wear hijab. But they have to follow the laws. Their rights of freedom are taking away by their own government and nobody is there to listen to their voices. The Summer Break Of 2013 - 919 Words

During the summer break of 2013 I was an eager soon to be a sophomore. Even with summer break, I faced a stressful combination of summer school, Crew soccer club practice, and homework. To cope with them, I unknowingly turned to unhealthy eating and sleep deprivation. As you can imagine my summer did not go the way I expected it to. I finished summer school in the middle of July when I woke up with a sudden, harsh, and excruciating pain in my lower abdomen. I couldn’t bare to even get up from bed. I thought maybe I needed to go to the bathroom, which didn’t solve the problem. I was sweating continuously. All I could do was cry in the fetal position. It felt as if a professional boxer was jabbing my lower abdomen from left to right. I†¦show more content†¦I was scared for my life that this might be the end. That following night I went into the operating room. After the surgery, I had to stay in the hospital for 4 days. It was the worst experience I ever had. I had no appetite, all I had was water. Even though my appendix was removed, I still felt the pain in my lower abdomen. I had to walk around the hospital floor in order to relieve some air from my stomach. It was very quiet and dark since barely any sunlight came through the windows. The cold air made me feel sick to my stomach. It was depressing to see young children on ventilating machines or babies placed in clear boxes because of their conditions. Each time I walked in the hallways passing each room, I was crying. Being stuck in this environment made me want to leave immediately. There was no happy place for me. I was able to get a lot of support from the nurses and doctor who always checked up on me. My uncle, who is a doctor of Chiropractic visited me daily to make adjustments on my spine. As each day passed, the pain was slowly fading away. Although I had help, I on my own, had to continue to walk until I finally felt better. Fortunately, after 3 days, I was able to walk around freely, gained my appetite back and was finally discharged from the hospital. Lobbying As previously stated, private prison companies have to rely on the big prison population in order for them to make money because he main concern of these private corporations that run these facilities is money. Due to this, these companies will do whatever it takes to make sure the prison population increases so they can keep making money. Therefore, the private prison companies will lobby for laws to boost the prison population. Due to this financial motive they will do whatever it takes to make money. In the Corrections Corporation of America’s 2010 Annual Report they even stated the following: Our growth is generally dependent upon our ability to obtain new contracts to develop and manage new correctional and detention†¦show more content†¦Also, sentencing alternatives under consideration could put some offenders on probation with electronic monitoring who would otherwise be incarcerated. Same Sex Unions Book Review: Same Sex Unions in Premodern Europe by John Boswell The question of same-sex unions and their legitimacy in many different societies is a topic that has been hotly debated for centuries. One society in particular is pre-modern Europe. Noted author and historian Dr. John Boswell looks extensively at the topic of same-sex unions in his book Same Sex Unions in Premodern Europe. Dr. Boswell argues extensively in his book that the Catholic and Eastern Orthodox churches not only sanctioned unions between partners of the same sex, but actually sanctified them. This critique examines some specific aspects of the book, and analyzes them. Before an analysis of the Same Sex Unions in Premodern Europe can be evaluated, it's important to know a little about the author himself and what he stood for. Dr. Boswell was a professor at Yale University and Chairman of Yale's history department for many years. He was an award winning scholar, author and historian. In addition to writing Same Sex Unions in Premodern Europe he also wrote several other works such as Christianity, Social Tolerance and Homosexuality. Two of his greatest professional achievements included being a Woodrow Wilson Fellow and a Fulbright scholar. It is his extensive training as a Historian and an understanding of his own homosexuality that gave him unique insight into the writing of Same Sex Unions in Premodern Europe. In Same Sex Unions in Modern Europe, Boswell takes a highly controversial position in saying that the Catholic and Eastern Orthodox churches actually sanctified same sex unions, while at the same time, presenting his viewpoints in such a way that any well educated historian would? very carefully. He almost contradicts himself at several points in the book and mentions that his ideas are subject to debate among his peers. Boswell, in writing this book has essentially established a Premodern Europe where heterosexual marriage was largely ignored by pagans and discouraged by the church. Also, according to Boswell, men would essentially pair off in order to perform duties that were considered essential to society such as war, trade, education, friendship, etc. As Boswell puts it ?it is hardly surprising that there should been a Christian solemnizing same sex unions.? I do not agree with him on this premise, although homosexuality has existed in animal species and in humans since the beginnings of our existence, how can he be so bold as to assume that the majority of these supposed pairs were homosexual? In my opinion that broad of a statement is like saying that any two men that shake hands or embrace must automatically be gay. There is a second specific point that I wish to point out with regards to medieval priest and the monastic life. Boswell points out in Same Sex Unions in Premodern Europe that young boys caught performing homosexual acts were ?punished? by being sent to a monastery. Was this meant as ?punishment? to deprive these boys of their youth or to isolate them from the supposed forces that made them perform these acts? Boswell points out ?in any event, being placed with monks was likely to provide the best environment to locate other men romantically interested in their own gender.? That's all well and good, but he undermines his own thesis here. If the Christian Right of the time so vehemently supported same sex unions, then why would boys who engaged in same-sex acts be ?punished? at all? Should not they be encouraged to be homosexual? Boswell not only mildly contradicts himself here, he goes a step further and practically destroys his own thesis. Through reading Same Sex Unions in Premodern Europe, relating it to my own experiences as a history major, and gay male, not to mention discussions in class, I do not believe that same sex unions were as heavily sanctioned in Premodern Europe by churches as Boswell would have us believe. It is my opinion that there have fluctuations between then and now as to exactly how much homosexuality is tolerated by the so-called mainstream society. There were places such as Ancient Greece where it was accepted and modern day liberal locations such as San Francisco, California that have a large gay/lesbian population. When using this drug recreationally, meaning that you use this drug for fun (not medically), which is most users. Since marijuana is the easiest to obtain, it is the most commonly used drug for teenagers. Marijuana is known as a soft drug and Professor Hartney who has a phd in psychology and is the Director Centre of Health Leadership and Research states that â€Å"Most people who develop severe problems with drugs, such as cocaine, meth, and heroin, had early experiences with marijuana before trying these other drugs†. Most people argue that because the drug is illegal, that is what makes Marijuana a gateway drug, but if it was legal users could buy the drug through legal channels therefore not being exposed to such harder drugs. In conclusion to all of this Professor Hartney believes that you shou ldnt assume people will progress to other drug use after Marijuana, but also consider the possibility that it could lead to other drugs. There is a scale on the internet that is called the The Center for Epidemiologic Studies Depression scale and the measures for Marijuana use. Over 4400 adult internet users have taken this test and Thomas F Denson the creator of this test was looking for the recruitment of the most depressed and marijuana involved participants. They compared the users who consumed the drug daily, once a week or less, or never in their lives. The results showed that people who consumed the drug on a daily basis were in less depressed moods and had fewer body complaints than non users. Based on the three groups of people who used them on a daily basis, once a week or less, or never in their lives had the same interpersonal symptoms. Since some users use it recreationally and some users use it medically they had to make different analysis. In the end of these studies they noticed that users who used the drug medically were more depressed and had more body complaints rather than the recreational users. I n conclusion to this study is that the data suggests that adults do not increase their risk for depression by using marijuana. Alcohol begins to be more important than the persons relationships, work, or even their health. The person progresses by losing control over their drinking and are not able to control their habit. A physical addiction may come later to avoid the effects of a hangover. The effects on major organ systems include a wide range of digestive disorders such as ulcers, inflammation of the pancreas, and cirrhosis of the liver. The nervous system can also be permanently damaged. Blackouts, hallucinations, and extreme tremors may occur to the person as a direct result of drinking alcohol. Studies have evidence that shows that heavy or even moderate drinking during pregnancy can cause serious damage to the unborn child. This is known as fetal alcohol syndrome. About 10 percent of all the adult drinkers in the U.S. are considered alcoholics or they have some sort of drinking problem. The consumption of alcohol is currently rising in the U.S., and other countries like the U.S.S.R. and some of the European countries. There is also an increase of alcohol-related problems in other nations, including the Third World. Specialized treatment facilities within general or psychiatric hospitals are rapidly increasing in number. One of them is known as Charter. The aim of marketing is to meet and satisfy the needs and wants of the customers. India has long-term potential to become a significant vehicle market. It has huge population of nearly one billion people (of which 150-250 million are middle class), and a current vehicle population of 3. 5 million (equivalent to only 3. 4 cars per 1000 people). In spite of numerous market deterrents, the Indian automotive market has become the focus of attention as several major auto manufacturers have announced large capital investment plans to be carried out  in the near future. Prior to the early 90? s there were only four car companies manufacturing and selling cars in India. Suggestions: Price, Mileage, performance, safety & brand name are the main attributes which are going to grab the market share for Etios and hence this should be highlighted in advertisement & make them to know. * Also the Dealer should place attractive hoardings of the Toyota brands at Strategic locations in Hubli city. * Services after sales should be improved to overcome the service barriers. * Personal contact should be done to the potential customer so as to convenience the customers as there is lot of varieties of mid size cars in the market. Limitations: * I faced difficulty in collecting data because of busy schedule of the respondents. It was difficult to get information from the organization guide due to their busy schedule. SERVICE DEPARTMENT FUNCTIONS : SERVICE DEPARTMENT Head Customer Service, heads workshop or servicing departments, he is assisted by a service Manager. 3 Service Advisors, a job Controller and a Part in charge then assist the service Manager. When a vehicle is brought for servicing, then service Manager refers it to any of the advisors, who then prepares a job card, jots down the problems, what the customer’s complaints are about? He then gives advises for repairs, replacements and then further process of repairs and general check up starts that is when the responsibility is handed over to the Chief Technicians who carry on the work on the work and after all mechanical work is completed, the vehicle is sent to washing where the outer body is given the water wash and the interiors are given air blow. In the same way accident cases are dealt with and the procedures for repairs goes hand in hand with the insurance agent who inspects the vehicle and then gives orders for further repairs.
